New interim head for Argyle House School

Nicola Smillie has taken over from long-serving head Christopher Johnson

Nicola Smillie has begun work as interim head at , following the departure of Christopher Johnson after two decades in the post.

Mrs Smillie is a hispanic studies and French graduate who has worked in the independent sector for 30 years. Previously she has held the positions of headmistress at Saint Martin鈥檚 School, Solihull and Alderley Edge School for Girls. Both schools are 鈥渁ll-through鈥 schools for pupils aged 2 鈥18 years. Nicola is also an inspector for the Independent Schools Inspectorate.

She started her career in education as a languages teacher at Lordswood Girls’ School in Birmingham.

Argyle House, founded in 1884, is owned by growing schools group which includes 10 schools and nurseries.

Argyle House caters for children aged 3 to 16 and currently has 226 pupils, with places available for September

An open day will take place on January 30 from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.
