HMC welcomes first online head

The founder of Minerva Virtual Academy described the news as 'historic'

Suzanne Lindley, principal of , has become the first leader of an online school to become an international associate of the HMC (The Head鈥檚 Conference), its founder has said.

MVA was launched in 2020 with a handful of students learning online and now has more than 1,000. Ms Lindley has led the UK-headquartered school since January last year.

She said of her acceptance to the group of leading schools on LinkedIn: 鈥淚 am honoured to be included in this vibrant community of heads and educators from some of the world鈥檚 leading independent schools 鈥 this is a huge step forward for Minerva Virtual Academy (MVA), online education, and for a fairer and more compassionate education landscape.

鈥淓ducation is more effective when we share and collaborate to innovate a brighter future 鈥 to be able to bring the huge leaps that online schooling has achieved to the conversation is a responsibility I am thrilled to undertake.鈥

In his own LinkedIn post, MVA鈥檚 founder Hugh Viney said the move was 鈥渉istoric鈥.

He added: 鈥淭here is no one more deserving of this recognition and, I hope, joining this roster of world-leading independent educators will only further empower Suzanne to keep doing what she does best 鈥 revolutionising school for all, so that every child can have an education they enjoy.
